My cocktail "Julius' Temple" was inspired by 2 of the 4 Oranges themselves. Julius came to me as it would to a visionary Italian bartendress..Hail Caesar!Valencia Oranges are used as are Hamlin and Parsons Brown,,,a nice Priest, lover of oranges, to create 4 Orange Vodka..no wheat, no rye, strictly distilled from oranges.
My recipe was submitted on a whim, with a vision, tasting Amaretto, Benedictine, fresh OJ and half&half on my palate before creation. I have always enjoyed the Orange Julius drink. I literally saw my drink as a ruler of oranges on a throne over looking an kingdom grove of oranges! Hence JULIUS' TEMPLE..
At 3am, prior to boarding my plane, it accured to me that I should do a little research of Orange Julius..just in case. There had to be more to the drink that I thought..low and behold..
In 1928, Julius Freed and his best friend, Bill Hamlin, started an Orange Juice stand, selling fresh OJ, but Bills sensitive stomach called for some cream. Thirsty customers shouted "More Orange Julius !!"
Hence the creation of ORANGE JULIUS, and now 200 shops across the USA. Bill Hamlin, may be responsible for one of the Oranges in the 4 Orange Vodka, HAMLIN ORANGES..we are waiting for confirmation. I felt a shiver run up and down my back..when I read HAMLINS name..IS this a coincedence or divine intervention? Who knows..but here is the WINNING 2nd place.
